Why choose fiber cement over real cedar shakes?
Cedar shakes are beautiful and combustible, insect-prone and maintenance-hungry. Fiber cement shake panels keep the texture and shadow lines while eliminating fire risk (Class A vs. untreated cedar’s flammability), insect damage, and the 3-to-5-year re-stain cycle. Factory pre-finishing means the color you approve on a sample is the color across the whole elevation. It is one of the five fiber cement profiles we pre-finish.

Do fiber cement shakes look fake up close?
Modern embossing is taken from real split cedar; at normal viewing distance the giveaway is usually that the coursing is too even — which is why staggered-edge panels exist.
Can I mix shakes with lap siding in one order?
Yes, and it ships finished in the same batch color.
What exposure do fiber cement shake panels use?
Standard panels are set for a 7-inch exposure, which matches the look of traditional cedar shakes.
